I created a series of smaller, painted self-portraits entitled; I Am Biracial. Along with my continuous search for my racial identity, this series was created to allow me to take back control. Throughout I Am Biracial, I havesewn three portraits that address my identity. In these portraits I infuse my canvas with patchwork, fiber, colorful oil pastel, and screen-print ink to piece together my racial identity. This work reveals that I am more than my skin color, that I deserve more than assumptions, and I will not be put under a microscope without my permission.
